IT STARTED WITH A NIGHTMARE!
During the post-production of his feature directorial debut “Piranha II: The Spawning” in Italy, writer & director James Cameron had a nightmare about a robot emerging from an explosion as well as its torso dragging itself across the floor towards a woman, armed with a kitchen knife.

This fever dream sparked what ultimately became “The Terminator”, first conceptualized by James Cameron’s own artwork (seen above).

A BODY LIKE NO OTHER!
Did you know that even though body double Brett Azar’s impressive massive frame was very similar to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s body in 1984, it still wasn’t quite good enough?

“Terminator Genisys” special effect artists STILL had to digitally replace Brett’s entire body for the majority of the shots with a fully CG Arnold in order to make it look believable (because Arnold’s physique was so unique.)

A FUTURE NOT ENTIRELY COLD AND LOVELESS.
Did you know that in 2013, Hustler Video released a pornographic parody of The Terminator titled “This Ain’t Terminator XXX”?

You can easily recognize what you’re in for, when the synopsis begins with “A horny cyborg is sent from the future…”

THAT’S NOT POSSIBLE!
Did you know that the plane John Connor and Kate Brewster used to escape in “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” actually changed numbers during the course of the movie?

THE SAFETY OF SARAH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU REALIZE.
Did you know that in “Terminator Genisys”, the film’s director Alan Taylor actually cast his own 11-year-old daughter Willa Taylor to play the young Sarah Connor that was rescued by the T-800 Guardian back in 1973?

The producers recognized a great deal of natural acting talent in Willa, and were more than fine with the choice.

A SPIDER IN TIME.
Did you know that before “Terminator Genisys” (and “The Terminator: Dawn of Fate” video game), the Centurion  a.k.a.  HK-Spider a.k.a. Spider-Tank was originally planned to be shown on film almost 25 years before?

James Cameron originally wanted to feature the spider-like death machine in the future war scenes of “Terminator 2: Judgment Day (as detailed in this T2 concept art above) but was reportedly cut to keep the film’s skyrocketing budget in check.

SO LONG AGO YET STILL AGELESS!
Thirty-one years ago on October 26, 1984, audiences first witnessed a cyborg from the future time travel into the past, to kill the mother of a resistance leader that would later save humanity and crush the uprising of the machines. Needless to say Science Fiction films would never be the same again. Above is a newspaper clipping more than three decades old advertising the theatrical release.
