NECA is shipping to retailers this week the Terminator Ultimate Tech Noir T-800, an action figure based on the likeness of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger as he appeared in the James Cameron original 1984 sci-fi classic film “The Terminator”! Today, we got our hands on one of these highly anticipated action figures so let’s take a closer look!
The front of the box features the classic 1984 poster one sheet design, while the back of the box features pictures of the figure in poses similar to iconic scenes found in the movie.
There is a door to the front of the box held shut by velcro. When opened, the door reveals a window display of the secured figure inside, a wonderful design for those who choose to display their figures “mint in box”.
Let’s remove the figure out of the box shall we? With a little bit of effort, the top flap of the box opens and the clear plastic bubble tray that securely holds the figure slides right out.
If you notice, The Ultimate Tech Noir T-800 comes with 3 interchangeable heads, an interchangeable right forearm, an alternate hand, a small arsenal of weaponry, and two surgical tools for repairing his battle-damaged arm. Now let’s takes a closer look at those interchangeable heads.
When you display your figure, you have the choice of three heads: One with an undamaged face, another with singed hair and burned off eyebrows, and another burned head with eye damage sorely in need of repair. Now let’s take a look at the entire figure.
The Ultimate Tech Noir T-800 features the infamous punk outfit, including the jacket adorned with metal studs and chain. The figure itself stands approximately 7 inches tall. Unfortunately we noticed right away that there was some missing paint in both his hair and his gloves, something we can easily fix (but still is a bit frustrating). But the clothing looks terrific! Let’s take a look at just how terrific that jacket looks from behind.
Fantastic! Now it’s time to have a little fun and articulate this figure into some poses!
Even though this figure has over 25 points of articulation, we wish the left hand was capable of reaching the right arm so we can show the T-800 actually repairing his damaged arm. However, other than that (and the slight paint problems we addressesed earlier), this action figure is quite terrific and a great addition for any Terminator fan! We highly recommend it!
That’s it for our unboxing and mini-review. We’ll be back!
