It’s just been announced that Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D is coming to home video this October 3rd in the United States, released by Lionsgate! Yes, arguably the best science fiction sequel ever made is getting a Limited Collector’s Edition EndoArm box set in the U.S. (just like the U.K. Zavvi edition we announced earlier today HERE) which will include a 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack (plus Blu-ray and Digital HD). Unfortunately, while the UK version comes with a 3D disc, it does appear that due to the lack of popularity with 3D televisions in the United States, the U.S. version of this collector’s set will not contain a 3D disc (nor an original soundtrack CD) like its UK counterpart.
Only 6,000 of these Limited Collector’s Edition EndoArm box sets will be released, which will include a life-sized replica of the T-800 EndoArm mounted on a numbered stand, with James Cameron’s signature on the stand! It will have a suggested retail price of $174.99.

As much as I want this, I just can’t justify spending $175 on a movie and prop. Maybe after its release I’ll browse eBay for people selling the arm separately and see if I can get a good deal on it. Super cool special edition, though! Can’t wait to see Terminator 2 on the big screen for its upcoming re-release!

The 3D conversion was the whole point of this reissue and they’re not even including it? Fuck the whole industry for killing 3D, the only reason it’s “failed” is because they did a lousy job promoting it and made some titles hard to get.

I don’t even understand them saying 3D is dead! Almost every cartoon and major film is in 3D!

It’s funny how it’s alive in Europe and Asia and they cannot manage to ship a few boxes of 3D titles to the USA for those of us that DO like 3D? Unbelievable. I had to order Beauty and the Beast (with Emma Watson) and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter from Europe to get the 3D versions. Fortunately, a lot of the UK imports are as cheaper or cheaper (especially when they come in double or triple movie packs) than the 2D versions are in the US and they always include that too and rarely have any region coding.
Why is Hollywood continuing to release movies in 3D at the theater in the USA? Shouldn’t they tell James Cameron that Americans HATE 3D and so he can’t release it here? Don’t people hate wearing glasses the theater here too? Aren’t they afraid their friends will call them four eyes or something? Sadly, yes the glasses are often cited as THE reason 3D “failed” in the USA, not the inflated movie prices ($30 for a title that goes for $8 on regular BD), lack of 3D TV choices at comparable prices and poor promotion.
Only NOW are dirt cheap 65″-75″ sets becoming available (the minimum size you need to really enjoy 3D at any distance, IMO) and 3D would be perfect for those, but they don’t include it. I’m using a 93″ screen with a new Epson 3100 projector and 3D is awesome at home! I could put my hand through the holographic looking images on Jaws 3D (never remembered anything coming that close to me when I saw it as my first 3D movie in the theater in the early ’80s!)

This is the most repugnant thing I have seen from “Those in charge” that decide how releases should be handled in the USA. Everyone I know with a Projector LOVES 3D! But, somehow the people in charge think, nah, they really don’t want 3D, they want 4K or 8K or 1 Million K. What a crock of skat! Instead of getting a paying customer, now people will simply wait for the 3D UK releases to show up on the Internet and download them for free. Dumb ass studios. I hope they lose their asses on this dumb decision.
